If you start a survey about students and their taste for books and reading, the result would surprise you. Almost everybody of them would announce how nice is to read and gain information. But most don’t like reading stories and articles on the computer or on a screen, they prefer the good old method of having a book in their hands. But why then everybody is reading without the hard cover books or even the soft cover ones? That is a question which is hard to answer. The problem which comes further is that a lot of books shops had to close because they didn’t have enough clients to survive. Some years ago a lot of them could count on school kids, because they are still using books for studying and doing their homework. But nowadays also the new technology has entered the schools.
No papers, no exercise books
Instead of writing everything from the blackboard into you own exercise books, some very modern schools are using computer walls. They project the screen of a computer on a wall and then every pupil can read properly. This has an advantage for both: There is no need for the teachers to write on a blackboard and neither the students have to write. Through the Internet is possible that these documents can be send home to the personal mail address. One of the greatest advantages is that the student only has to concentrate on the topic. If it is a subject in mathematics they will follow the logic of a calculation with their fully attention and if the French teacher is giving an explication about the forms of the verb they try to understand directly the meanings behind. Of course an argument against is that some children are more the active learning type. That means by writing and copying the information they will remember it easier. But I think in general it is a very good invention.
