The Principles of Seeking Knowledge

Above all, we must make clear how we shall succeed in attaining our purposes of seeking knowledge. Some students study without definite aim, simply muddling through their studies. Some others are determined to learn well, but their results are not in conformity with their wishes. Where does the crux of this problem lie? It lies in the fact that they are short of studying plans.

Therefore, if we want to study well, we must decide on some principles and lay down some brief plans. A plan will not be practical if it is not based on some principles. My own principles are as follows:

1. Bearing my definite aim in mind

I want to become a computer programmer in the future. As computers require broad and profound knowledge, I must not leave any subject out. Indeed, it is impossible to attend to each and every aspect of a matter, so I must lay emphasis on some particular subjects, such as Chinese, English, Mathematic, science etc…

2. Taking right attitutes:

If I encounter any problem in my study, I ought to learn modestly from others. Provided the students of a class can give full play to the spirits of mutual aid and cooperation, all of them can make joint progress.

3. Using correct method:

We should not study mechanically, but must study lively. Memorizing is, of course, the first task of students, but mechanical memorizing is not recommended. I shall grasp the main points comprehensively first, so that I may draw inferences from one point.

4. Widening my range of knowledge spontaneously: No matter how busy we are, we must also spare time to do outside reading. It is not enough to read textbooks and outside reading can help to comprehend the contents of textbooks. Above all things, it is helpful for putting to use the knowledge we learn from textbooks.

If I can act on these principles, I believe that I can get satisfactory results in my study.

How to write a respectable letter of application?

Every student would be very concerned about getting a job once graduation especially during this economic downturn. Before you decide your career path or even how you could find a job, try to firstly write a respectable application letter. It not only seriously effect your interviewers’ impression on you as a person in general. Therefore, I especially developed a formal letter for your reference:

Dear Sirs,

I refer to your advertisement in todays “South China Morning Post” for an accounting clerk, I beg to offer my service for I think myself qualified for your requirments.

It is extremely important that you state your purpose and which position you are applying at the beginning and it’s not a bad idea to show some sort of confidence firsthand.
